The Tucson Hiking Meetup Group lists a weekly Friday Night Sabino Stroll. Posted dates checked October 5, 2026 were Fri Oct 9 and Fri Oct 16 at 7:00 p.m. MST, at Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, 5630 N Sabino Canyon Road, Tucson. There are two groups. The 6:00 p.m. group is faster, about 3.5 to 4 mph, and asks people to comment “6 pm” if they are coming. The 7:00 p.m. group is the one most people use and is the better fit for someone new. No hike fee is listed. A parking fee is separate: a visible Coronado National Forest pass or America the Beautiful pass, or a day or week pass bought at recreation.gov or the self-pay station. No vaping, smoking, weapons, or dogs. Afterward the notes mention Arizona Pizza Company, 4955 N Sabino Canyon Rd. That is not the start.

Every Friday. 6:00 p.m. group: faster, about 3.5–4 mph; comment “6 pm” on the event. 7:00 p.m. group: usual group for new people. The Meetup time on the October events is 7:00 p.m. MST. Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, 5630 N Sabino Canyon Road, Tucson, AZ. Bring 1–2 liters of water, hiking clothes and shoes, and a headlamp or flashlight. The 7:00 p.m. group sometimes uses a blacklight.

New members are pointed to the 7:00 p.m. group. The 6:00 p.m. group is a fitness pace.

No hike fee is listed. Do not call the stroll Free. Parking needs a Coronado National Forest pass, an America the Beautiful pass, or a day or week pass from recreation.gov site 74388 or the self-pay station. The 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. groups are both real. The map is the canyon entrance, not the pizza stop.

How to join

Sign up on Meetup only if you can go. Comment “6 pm” if you want that group. Carry a forest parking pass or pay the day-use fee. That parking charge is not a hike fee.
